About Us

SustainAI is a research group led by Professors Davide Taibi and Valentina Lenarduzzi at the Southern Denmark University (SDU).

We investigate sustainable and environmentally responsible AI, long-lasting software architectures, and how AI can enhance modern software engineering processes.

Our mission is to produce high-quality empirical research, support open-source ecosystems, and collaborate with academia and industry to build future-proof, responsible software systems

We study how to design and operate AI systems with minimal environmental impact, including energy-aware engineering, carbon efficiency, and green software practices.

AI-Enhanced Software Engineering

We build and evaluate methods using Generative AI and AI agents to support testing, architecture analysis, code quality, refactoring, and defect forecasting.

Sustainable Software Architectures

We enable companies to keep the architectural degradation under control, and identify the most appropriate architectures for building maintainable, resilient systems.
